  • The dough is sticky, add some powdered sugar to the palms of your hands before rolling to make it easier

Red Velvet Crinkle Cookies

Today’s recipe is SUPER SPECIAL! It was baked during a cooking class with my best friend Inaam four years ago when we did a joint-cooking class.
Those are perfect all year round and specially for Christmas, their Red color just pops and spreads joy.

Equipment

  • Stand Mixer or Hand Mixer

Ingredients
  

  • 2 1/4 cup flour
  • 2 TBSP Cocoa
  • 1/2 TSP Salt
  • 2 TSP Baking Powder
  • 1 Package Cream Cheese softened (226grams)
  • 50 grams’ butter softened
  • 1 Egg
  • 1 TSP Vanilla
  • 1 TBSP Red Food Coloring
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1/2 cup powder sugar

Instructions
 

  • In a bowl mix flour, cocoa, salt, and baking powder. Set aside.
  • In the bowl of your stand mixer cream the butter and cream cheese.
  • Gradually add the sugar until well incorporated.
  • Add egg and vanilla.
  • Add red food coloring and continue mixing until it blends through the whole mixture.
  • Gradually add in the dry ingredients (minus the powder sugar) and mix until well incorporated.
  • Chill in fridge for at least one hour before shaping.
  • Preheat oven to 180 degrees.
  • Meanwhile, shape dough into equal balls, we used an ice cream scooper.
  • Roll cookie dough in powder sugar and place on baking tray.
  • Bake for 8 minutes and then take out. Let them cool down for 2 minutes before moving them to cooling rack.
  • The cookies will be soft, remember they continue baking outside the oven, so don't over bake.
