Happy International Meat Ball Day! In celebration and as a proud IKEA Brand Ambassador I wanted to replicate their signature dish and encourage you to make it at home.
I just wanted to let you know that IKEA never gave me their signature recipe, but this is my own version of replicating it and man was it a winner at home.
IKEA Swedish Meat Balls
Without a doubt, meatballs is the best known of all Swedish dishes, traditionally served with potatoes, lingonberry jam and cream sauce. Here is a homemade replica of IKEA's signature dish, using their meat balls.
Ingredients
- 2 TBSP Vegetable Oil
- Meatballs from IKEA
- 50 grams’ butter
- 50 grams’ flour 6 TBSP
- 1 cup chicken or beef broth I used chicken (240 ML)
- 200 ML Cooking Cream
- 1 TSP Dijon Mustard
Serve with:
- IKEA's frozen mashed potatoes or make your own
- Green Peas
- IKEA’S SYLT LINGON Lingonberry jam
Instructions
- Cook meatballs in vegetable oil until browned.
- For the sauce, add 50 grams of butter and mix in with 50 grams of flour (6 tablespoons) and toast them slightly.
- Add your choice of chicken or meat broth. I used chicken broth.
- Whisk in 200 ML of heavy cream (make sure it's not straight out of the fridge).
- Add 1 TSP of dijon mustard.
- Mix well until thickened.
- Serve the meat balls with mashed potatoes, peas, IKEA's jam, and the homemade sauce! YUM!
