Have you ever tried muhammara? It’s a spicy pepper dip which tastes savory, sweet, and smoky with a little spice.
Most recipes call for roasted peppers, this version that was passed down to me by mom has Red Chili Peppers instead.
If you don’t have a meat grinder or a meat grinder you can use a food processor. But the consistency might be a little bit different.
Muhammarah
Muhmmara is a hearty walnut and red pepper dip or spread that's all sorts of savory, sweet, slightly smoky, and just enough spicy!
Equipment
- Meat Grinder
Ingredients
- 200 grams walnuts
- 4 - 6 pieces of Red Chili Pepper
- 1/2 cup Qirsheleh bread crumbs
- 4 TBSP Pomegranate Molasses
- 1 TSP Salt
- 1 TBSP Cumin
- 1/4 cup water Only if needed
- Olive Oil for drizzling
Instructions
- Add the walnuts to your meat grinder, followed by the chili peppers.
- If using Qirsheleh (pieces of double toasted bites usually enjoyed with tea) add them. Or you can mix in pulse bread crumbs later.
- Move mixture to bowl and mix in
- Mix in pomegrante molasses
- Season with Salt and Cumin
- If consistency is too thick mix in some water one table spoon at a time
- Drizzle with olive oil and enjoy
